Our first major banner at a national show came from our first herd sire, MAV Legacy 601D ET, when he was named Reserve Calf Champion at the NAILE in 2016. He covered cows as a yearling, then was pulled back into the show barn for just 3 weeks to capture the Iowa Champion Bull honors at the 2017 Iowa State Fair. His half-sister won the female show, and Legacy’s first calf to be exhibited (PAW Highmore Cotton 807) was named Calf Champion in 2018! Every visitor to the farm so far has either purchased Legacy’s progeny or a rack of semen! We added VCR 711E Convoy 41H in 2021 to use back on the Legacy daughters.

2023 Success

PAW 601D Starlit Gem 807 (43928305) & PAW 41H Gemini 304 (44474413) were named Grand Champion Cow-Calf Pair at both the Iowa & Minnesota State Fairs in 2023. Gemini went on to be named Grand Champion Hereford Bull at Minnesota as a calf! Gem 807 is a direct daughter of our MAV Legacy bull. Gemini is a VCR Convoy son; semen is still being offered on the open market through us, GeneSource or Cattle Visions.

This heifer went undefeated in her class for her entire show career, and was titled in her division several times. PAW 601D Crown Vic 207, better known as “Sky” will be the last natural service Legacy daughter added to the herd. We will continue to use the bull AI and have a healthy bank of conventional semen still for sale. Legacy stamps them pretty, and his daughters in production have good udders.

PAW 41H Ariah 240 is the first Convoy daughter to be sold. Congratulations to Clayton Wochesik from the Cy-Fair FFA Chapter near Houston, TX. She has been named Champion Hereford Female all over the southern Texas show circuit. Special thank you to his advisor Tabitha McKinney for the assistance in finding this heifer and helping this young man manage his project!

2022 Success

This steer was dominant on the Iowa Jr Beef Breeds circuit, winning the points race by a large margin. Started Reserve at Iowa Beef Expo (pictured here), finished Reserve Hereford at World Beef Expo…and Champion Hereford at least 6 times in between. Congrats to Carlee Cremeens, purchased in our 2021 online sale.

It’s an entirely different feeling when your customers win. The Putz family was one of the first to use Convoy. This bull calf (sired by VCR Convoy) was Champion at the Iowa Hereford Preview Show, then Iowa-bred Champion at the Iowa State Fair. Congratulations!
